Literally the “Seventieth” day before Easter and the third Sunday before the beginning of Lent. Before this day was removed from the Church calendar, it marked the beginning of the pre-Lent season which was used to consider ways of how to observe the season of Lent. The collect or opening prayer which used to be used at Mass appeals to God “to free us from the miseries and effects of our sins”.
The sacrament of Reconciliation, or Confession, is an important part of our life of faith. I have attached to the newsletter a very helpful guide to the sacrament which is celebrated in church on Saturdays from 1030am. Identify a time – and maybe – a church where you will be able to celebrate the sacrament of confession, as part of your preparation for Easter.
The Walk with Me prayer booklets and calendars are available at the back of church. During weekday Mass, we shall use the reflections which have been prepared.
