On 11th July the annual Club Day took place in the town. This is a parade and coming-together of the children from most of the Christian churches in an ecumenical act of worship following a tradition of many years.
There was a great turn-out by St Mary’s Catholic Academy schoolchildren, accompanied by parents, members of the parish, along with our Brownies, Beavers, Guides and Scouts, plus the band.
The theme of Club Day was ‘Lost and Found’ and the act of worship in the market place was led by Rev Roger Woods and St Luke’s Church.
Afterwards all the children from the various church schools or Sunday Schools processed around the north end of the town and back to tea at their schools or churches. The pictures immediately above show drinks being handed out to the young people as they walked round and two of our marshalls making sure the traffic stopped as we walked by. For St Mary’s children there was the usual banquet at the school and games for them on the playground.
Many thanks to all who helped in any way!
